Arsenal: The shock signings to win Arsenal the title

The Arsenal midfield must now be scourge of Europe

Arsenal keep surprising people this season. Everyone expects them to fail, but they continue to confound by winning games, no matter how big the opposition. It’s a far cry from the start of the season when Arsenal lost their first game at home to Aston Villa.

But everybody can see, clear as day, that there are some frailties which need to be addressed in the squad if Arsenal want to sustain a credible challenge until May.

Last summer they mainly concerned themselves with the transfer of Luis Suarez. Arsenal got fairly close to snaring the Liverpool player but perhaps they should look at more feasible options in the winter window.

The midfield must now be the scourge of Europe but they could do with adding one player to the defence and one to the attack. There are rumours this morning that Arsenal might go for Javier Hernandez. But we don’t think he’s a gettable player.

Someone who could do a good job Arsenal and seems disposable to his current club is Jermaine Defoe. Yes it would be a big shock if he left Tottenham for Arsenal. But having been undervalued by Tottenham for a few years now he might think it the perfect transfer!

Defoe is a goalscorer. He has scored goals where ever he has been and he is an excellent impact player. He looks like he needs one final big challenge and we think he will prove an excellent signing for someone.

As for the defence Liverpool have seemingly frozen out Daniel Agger. He was being mooted for a £30 million move to Barcelona just a few months ago but have since fallen out of favour. With Toure, Skrtel and Sakho playing so well Agger isn’t a central figure at Liverpool right now.

Arsenal should try and snap this guy up because is an excellent defender. The Arsenal backline is performing admirably but they need more depth in there.

So, perhaps for a combined fee of around £25 million, we think Arsenal could give themselves a really good shot at winning this title.

Arsenal fans, feel free to complain bitterly about our opinions.

Your choice of players is funny. How do you think Spurs will let Defoe join Arsenal. He can only do that if he was a free agent! Younes Kaboul for instance will own his contract next summer, quite possible. As for Hernandes, forget it! Wenger should have asked of a swap when he sold RVP to Man United. That way, Chicharito could have been an Arsenal player now

Incredible. There is a reason why Defoe is on the bench for Tottenham in the same reason he has played for Portsmouth, because he is nowhere near a top 4 player.
