Liverpool closing in on another 2 deals – report

After already agreeing deals for Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas this summer, Liverpool have been more active than most in the transfer market. While Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been heavily linked with a catalogue of players it is Liverpool who have got their money out and made the purchases.

In what promises to be an exciting summer in the market, Liverpool look as if they may spend the bulk of their current transfer kitty (Suarez dependent) in the next week or so. soccersweep reported last week on Liverpool’s interest in Shaktar’s goal-scoring phenomenon Henrikh Mkhitaryan and The Guardian has reported that a deal is getting closer.

The Ukrainian club’s chief executive, Sergey Palkin, had suggested that there had been no official contact with Liverpool over the player, who scored 25 league goals last season, but that approach is now understood to have occurred and Anfield officials are hopeful about concluding a deal.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph states that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is poised for talks with the player this week.

For a reported £22m it’s a lot of money to spend but the player is said to have drawn interest from all over Europe, including France and Germany, due to his goal-scoring prowess. CLICK HERE FOR A CLOSER LOOK.

The other player that Liverpool are reportedly closing in on is Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet. The Belgian stopper, 24, is valued by his club at around £10m – a price that Liverpool have yet to meet. But there remains a feeling that Liverpool are sincere about concluding deals with both players as soon as possible. This deal again raises doubts about the future of current Liverpool number 1 Pepe Reina. Reina didn’t have his best of seasons last time out but speculation about a transfer to Barcelona has calmed of late with Victor Valdes publicly stating that he wants to remain with the Spanish giants. Mignolet, Reina and Valdes will all undoubtedly expect to be first choice but 3 into 2 just doesn’t fit so something will have to give.

So, Liverpool fans, would you like to see Mignolet between the sticks next season or do your loyalties still lie with Pepe?

Mingolet is vastly inferior to Pepe. What is Rodgers and his committe thinking of? Apart from being a top keeper, Pepe is a leader which is what the bumbling Rodgers claims he wants.

This is one of the good news that LFC fans have been longing to hear for years. No doubt, pepe has been calamitious in the back line for more than two seasons now…..I really can’t wait to see his name erased from the dressing room. His crappy goal keeping and by far his school boy errors are pretty suitable for barcelona and not our dear club. Pepe u have really tried but c’mon now is the time for you to leave. I want to see that foolish betrayer called Suarez out of our dear club too. LFC is better off without idiots like him….what an ingrate!

Why don’t we bring in Mignolet to replace Brad Jones? Having Mignolet as a deputy will make Reina think twice before slacking off. Mancs have had first choice PL keepers being their reserve keeper before (Tomas Kusczak) in the past, why not us?

I dont understand why we are delaying to steal mkhitryan early enough before others get alerted b’se we wont have the chance to compete once they join the race. I dont care much about the mignolet issue.
