Liverpool have, of late, begun to look like a proper football team. With Sturridge maturing by the game and Coutinho looking ever more like the future envy of The Premier League, more and more onlookers are starting to feel that Brendan Rodgers is the man for the job at Liverpool.
After making such good signings so far, Rodgers won’t need any direction in making his summer purchases. But what is evident is that Liverpool need more pace down the wings. Even if they don’t opt for a conventional 4-4-2 they do look a little bit short in the wider areas. Downing has had a renaissance of sorts, while Raheem Sterling has fallen off the pace a little.
But, sooner rather than later, attention surely turn to Wigan hero Callum MacMananam. He was superb against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, a constant thorn in their side and an integral part in their undoing. Gael Clichy has had pants pulled down and his arse spanked red raw by the young Scouse upstart.
He’s only played 26 games for Wigan but, at 22 he’s got the sort of raw talent and potential that always seems to get Rodgers reaching for his wallet. What’s more, Liverpool could currently afford him.
We could easily see the lad in Liverpool red next season and for many years after that. Let’s have a look at his performance agianst City shall we? Yes, let’s.
