Rodgers makes another signing with more expected

Few would question the signings of Brendan Rodgers after the success of his winter purchases. With Daniel Sturridge scoring bucket loads and exceeding all expectations and Philippe Coutinho looking like a world star of the future, the Liverpool boss has bolstered his buying reputation no end.

His latest signing, Kolo Toure, may not excite the fans in the same way but, with Mr. Liverpool retiring and Martin Skrtel whining, reinforcements are most certainly necessary at the back. Despite his age (32) Toure still has good mobility and will bring much needed depth to a defence which looks healthier in the wide areas than in the centre. Toure didn’t really get a sniff at Manchester City after being banned for 6 months for taking his wife’s water tablets, but Liverpool feel he still has much to offer.

A Liverpool statement confirmed the news:

“The powerful defender (Toure) will be registered as a Reds player when his current deal with Manchester City expires.”

The Guardian reports that Liverpool are still in the hunt for their number one defensive target – Schalke’s Greek international Kyriakos Papadopoulos. The 21 year old won’t come cheap but Schalke look to have accepted his imminent departure by signing Borussia Dortmund centre-back Felipe Santana.

Toure in. Kyriakos Papadopoulos next?

If Liverpool do sign the highly rated Greek it will certainly solidify their defence but seriously diminish their transfer budget. So, Liverpool fans, should Rodgers be spending the money on other areas of the team or is this yet another masterstroke on the part of the Irishman?

What to worry? Hes physically strong, above average in possession and truly dominant in the air, Papadopoulos has jumped above Swansea City’s Ashley Williams and Ajax’s Toby Alderweireld as our nbr one target of CB

Act fast – and just close the deal!

    COME TO PAPA 😉
