With Crystal Palace top of The Championship this is the perfect time to take a closer look at some of The Eagles’ Premiership pretenders. Star player Wilfred Zaha has been left out by design, as he has already received plenty of attention following his inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s squad for last week’s friendly against Sweden.
Julian Speroni – Signed from Dundee United in 2004, the Argentine goalkeeper is a three times Crystal Palace player of the year, who has made over 250 appearances for the club. The perennial fan favourite is one of Crystal Palace’s greatest ever goalkeepers and there is no player more deserving of another shot at the big time.
Kagisho Dikgacoi – Versatile South African international midfielder – ‘KG’ as he is affectionately known – has been a revelation for the club since arriving, initially on loan, from a frustrating spell at Premier League Fulham. A physical presence capable of the spectacular, such as the strike that sunk Charlton in the league encounter back in September, KG will be desperate for a second chance to prove that he belongs at the elite level of English football.
Glenn Murray – Formerly with bitter rivals Brighton and Hove Albion, centre forward Murray has been in inspired form of late with fifteen league goals so far this season, making him the second highest scorer in The Championship. It was his headed goal that won The League Cup quarter final against Manchester United last year, assuring him a place in Crystal Palace folklore.
Mile Jedinak – The twenty-eight year old is an experienced Australian international midfielder, who has become something of a talisman for the club since arriving from Turkish team Gençlerbirliği last year. The Palace captain’s central midfield partnership with KG has been instrumental in the club’s early season success.
