Chelsea face further Terry absence

Yesterday it was announced that John Terry, Chelsea leader and former England captain, would be absent for approximately three more weeks.

Chelsea have clearly been weakened by Terry’s four game suspension, which cruelly coincided with injury to another defensive stalwart, Ashley Cole.

Back on the 23rd September Terry announced his retirement from international football, affording him undivided attention to Chelsea – but this injury has prolonged a period of already protracted displeasure for the player. If you’ll pardon the plethora of ‘P’ s

Terry scored his 50th goal for Chelsea and, in so doing, surpassed Peter Sillett who had scored 34 goals between 1953 and 1962, moments before his injury occurred against Liverpool. Thankfully, his right knee showed no significant damage, but will nevertheless keep him out for the forseeable future.
