Chelsea continue to court Porto’s Hulk but, according the The Metro, and various other media outlets, The Blues are planning to fill their problem right back berth with the sensational Brazilian stalwart Maicon. After spending 6 years in Italy at Inter, it is reported that Maicon’s agent is headed to London later this week for talks with several Stamford Bridge supremos.
Maicon is a modern legend of the game. He has famously kept Barcelona flyer Dani Alves out of the national team and has become a bi-word for dependability for club and country. He may not get forward quite as much as Alves but, like most Brazilian players, he still loves to attack the opposition and has a scoring record which many midfielders would be happy with.
At 30 years of age the signing would represent something of a surprise as recent soundbytes coming out of Chelsea have seemingly reflected the idea that the top brass at Stamford Bridge are looking to reduce the age of their squad. But Maicon still has lead in his pencil and represents a low risk signing who will offer solidity, unparalelled experience and coherence to the back line.
So, Chelsea fans, do you want Maicon to come or would you rather a younger right-back to be signed?

Is this a typo (maybe you meant “guy” – I hope so, for your sake) or are you afraid of your own sexuality? What has his sexual orientation got to do with it, fool?
You obviously know as little about life as you do about Chelsea.
Maicon is ideal. He has all the attributes we need at a knock-down price. In addition, we have young players in our own club who are only a season or two away from challenging for a place in the first team. Maicon will bridge that gap superbly. We dont need to pay megabucks for VDW etc and push our kids further down the pecking order.
AT LAST!!

Maicon will cost the same as VDW but have no resale value, and cost us more in wages. And given that none of these youngsters have even played a premiership game yet I dont think any of them will be in the team in the next 2 seasons, let alone regulars
