Speculation continues today that Mathieu Debuchy is a top target for Newcastle United. Apparently he is keen on joining his old mate Yohan Cabaye at the club next season.
The France right-back has been one of the stand out performers of EURO 2012 so far but has only been selected in the first eleven due to an injury to Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna.
Against England on Monday, he was a constant threat down the right flank. He not only got into the opposition half regularly but also provided some superb deliveries into the box to show that he is a player with an engine and an end product. He’s also extremely comfortable on the ball – perhaps due to the fact that he began his career as a midfielder.
His sudden elevation to the France team has put him in the shop window and Newcastle will have to act quickly and decisively to seal the signing of the French flyer. But, if he does come, the Toon will be looking at another superb coup in the transfer market.

Graham carr has been watching him for 2 and a half years and Debuchy told cabaye he wants to join NUFC already! Should be a done deal soon!
