It is being reported in a number of media publications that the highly unpredictable and sporadically unstoppable Lukas Podolski could be on his way to The Emirates in the summer.
In response to the rumours, the player himself has done nothing to assuage the concerns of fans of his current club, Cologne, who apparently love him – and it’s quite easy to see why when you look at his stats. In his two spells for FC Koln he has always scored goals and this year he has bruised the net 16 times in 22 games.
He certainly has the physique to cope in the Premier League but, despite being touted at the next big thing in Germany prior to Euro 2004, his career floundered during his time at Bayern Munchen where he bagged just 15 goals in over 70 games. This led some to question the temperament of the player at the top level.
His international career stands up well to scrutiny however. Strikers are judged on stats and Podolski has scored 43 in 95 for Germany – a ratio of nearly one in two.
Still only 26, I think he would be a good addition to the Arsenal squad – he’s a busy blighter alright. Here is a vid of some of his champagne moments.
