Living in Spain, as some of the soccersweep team do, we get to hear lots of opinions about La Liga and the big teams in it.
One of the surprising things that we have learnt is that, no matter where you go outside of Catalonia, virtually everyone supports Real Madrid. From Malaga to Murcia and Sevilla to San Sebastian, you can’t walk twenty metres without finding one of the blighters.
Most of those that we have spoken to are disappointed to hear about the current problems between Real Madrid and their superstar Sergio Ramos, who has been a massive part of their recent success. They want him to stay at the club and feel that he would be difficult to replace.
So it comes as a huge surprise to us that a recent report in Spanish media outlet AS, suggests that over half of the Real Madrid fans polled want him to leave.
AS survey : over 55% of fans would sell Ramos
..over 22 % of Internet users Voters are clear that the amount for the sale must not be less than 60 million euros
25,000 people were said to have been canvassed and it’s a strange result. The majority want him to leave but clearly value him highly because they are expecting to see 60m Euros in return – at least.
It appears then that many of the Real Madrid faithful are simply tired of the way that the club has been dragged down by this debacle.
We aren’t at all sure that Manchester United would be prepared to spend 60m Euros on a 29 year old. But with a bid of around 40m already rejected we wait with bated breath to see what happens next.
Real Madrid fans: do you want to see Ramos leave the club after all that has happened?
