Still strong

Real Madrid usually sign an A-lister each summer but this transfer window, their targets seem less clear.

Because the storm surrounding the future of Sergio Ramos has given them lots to think about.

However, despite serious interest from other clubs, Real Madrid are still perhaps in with a chance of signing Paul Pogba this summer. Barcelona are clearly interested but nothing has been done and this one could drag for some time.

Pogba: Absolute titan

Pogba: Absolute titan

But Zinedine Zidane last month stated publicly that there is interest in the player and the 22 year old Frenchman would surely make Real Madrid even more exciting going forward.

He’s a box to box genius who would trot into any team in Europe and perhaps even displace Luka Modric in the side. Unless he takes the place of James Rodriguez then either Modric or Kroos would have to be benched.

And in terms of Ramos, we still think that he will stay at the club. But, if he does go, Real Madrid may be keen to take the rock solid Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia. He won’t come cheap and may well be interesting other parties too. But the draw of Real Madrid is too tempting for most to resist and Otamendi may prefer to stay in Spain than move abroad.

As for Raphael Varane, he is simply too good not to be starting matches at this point. So we would use his extraordinary pace down the right flank.

So here is how we think Los Blancos could line up next season. Real Madrid fans: a better team than you currently have?
