A few years back we were watching Manchester United play Athletic Bilbao in what turned out to be a surprising game.
Manchester United had recently won The Champions League and appeared in 3 of the last 4 finals. But they had failed to get out of the group stage in 2011 and Bilbao beat them with two great performances in The Europa League.
The tie was capped by a wonder goal from a player whose technique is still comparable with most players at the top level of the game.
Fernando Llorente has since moved to Juventus and not always found himself in the team. But, having watched him at close quarters in his time at Napoli, new Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez must know about his quality all too well.
And some areas of the British Media are speculating that the Real Madrid boss will make a move for Llorente this summer. The Express reports:
REAL MADRID are set to challenge Liverpool’s pursuit of Juventus ace Fernando Llorente, according to reports.
He may not be quite as explosive as Karim Benzema. But he’s a masterful finisher and, with the sort of service on offer from the likes of Bale, Ronaldo, Rodriguez and Modric, he would surely score a bag full of goals next season.
With Chicharito leaving the club Real Madrid will at least need some back up and we think that this guy would be superb addition for the squad.
Let’s see him in action, scoring that aforementioned wonder goal. Real Madrid fans: is he good enough to play a big role in the squad next season?
