Tottenham boss has made enquiries about £25m man for January transfer – report

Berahino far better than some might think

Pace

Some transfer rumours just won’t go away and this one is most certainly in that category right now. Latest reports state that Tottenham have made enquiries about the possibility of signing WBA’s pacey young striker Said Berahino in the winter window.

The Daily Mail reports:

Spurs have now made initial enquiries over a January switch for the forward, who is rated at £25million.

The report says that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has originally preferred Southampton Striker Jay Rodriguez. But, with the Saints man still struggling to recover from long term injury a move for Berahino could be on.

We would certainly take him over Rodriguez. Berahino is a really composed finisher who can play in various positions and formations. And he’s got that vital quality, in the modern game, of pace. Loads of it. Add his dribbling ability and this makes him an excellent forward who can play wide in a three, behind a number 9 or as the lone man up front.

Tottenham Harry Kane has been revelation this season but Spurs need more quality up top and there is no reason to believe that these two can’t play together.

£25m is a lot of cash for a 21 year without too much experience at the top level and no senior international caps. But he’s got 8 goals in 15 games this season and has impressed with his all round quality.

Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: a gamble worth taking?
