Real Madrid: The most obvious January signing linked to The Bernabeu again?

Firstly, it’s important to stress that we are huge fans of Carlo Ancelotti and really respect him as a deep thinking football coach.

That said, we find it strange that he arguably doesn’t have a permanent role in mind for Germany star Sami Khedira. The obvious question is where you would play him, with Real Madrid looking so settled and the world class Luka Modric and Toni Kroos taking the midfield berths right now.

In an ideal world Real Madrid would have an injury free season – this current team looks perfect – but top teams have top squads in order to cope with the unavoidable injuries that every club suffers.

The great quality of Khedira is that he’s a warrior – a brilliant competitor who would improve most squads. If Carlo showed the guy some love and used him more frequently, when fit, surely everyone would be happy? Heck, Khedira could even do a job at right back.

But the rumour mills have persistently linked Khedira with a move away from Real Madrid and some reports this week suggest that his personal terms have already been agreed with Arsenal.

But, if he does leave, we think that Madrid will want to bring in another defensive midfielder. And one name which has resurfaced in the English media on Wednesday is that of Chelsea midfielder Ramires.

He’s arguably less influential on the field of play than Khedira. But he’s one of these quietly efficient players who has a massive engine and really good technique. He keeps things simple as an anchor man but can play in various roles and also has a goal in him.

Perhaps if Khedira does leave then a swap deal with Chelsea is more likely.

Let’s see the lad in action. Real Madrid fans: would you rather keep Sami or bring in Ramires?

No disrespect but just because you guys are big fans doesn’t qualify you to talk about soccer. I’m a Real Madrid fan too but Khedria (fit or not) needs to go. He had is chances with Mou, but Mou is a defencive coach.
