When you look at Real Madrid right now it’s hard to see a chink in the armour. While they may, arguably, have had a higher profile group of Galacticos in times past, there has seldom been a Madrid side with better balance.
Karim Benzema has dissolved the concerns of the doubters with the best football of his life. Either side of him, Bale and Ronaldo are hungry and imperious. Bale is yet to find his best form but you would still struggle to replace him with a better player (we won’t reopen the Di Maria debate at this stage).
In behind you have the ever improving James Rodriguez, supported by the majestic Modric and Kroos. Even the defence looks more solid than usual!
But the one area which could be bettered is perhaps in between the sticks. Iker Casillas is a club legend and it’s always hard to say goodbye to one. But his form has dropped off alarmingly over the last 18 months to 2 years and Real Madrid need a solution. Keylor Navas is decent but may struggle to adapt to a club of this size.
We believe that the answer is obvious. After having his place taken by Thibaut Courtois this season, Chelsea keeper Petr Cech has this week suggested that, if he remains on the bench for much longer, he will seek pastures new.
“I have not spoken to anyone, but I think they know me well enough at the club to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine,”
“With the Euros (in 2016) and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play. If the situation will not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it.”
There are few better keepers in the world, let alone reserve keepers. Cech is 32 but still retains his powers and many Chelsea fans are disgruntled that he’s not playing every week.
He’s a sensational, safe as houses stopper who could be the final piece of the jigsaw for this amazing Real Madrid incarnation. If he does become available the top brass at Madrid would be absolutely crazy not to invest.
Let’s see him flying around the goalmouth like a large missile. Madrid fans: no brainer?
