Top Striker Solution for Arsenal?

Arsenal went out of The Champions League again last night. In truth, many fans got most of their disappointment out of the way a couple of weeks ago, after the two nil defeat at The Emirates.

But there was of course still a pang of pain last night as the finality of it all kicked in. Arsenal still had a chance going into the game, but they just seemed a little toothless against elite opposition, when it came to the crunch.

It should not be forgotten that Arsenal had serious injury problems going to the game and, in that context, they gave a decent account of themselves. Even if they did go out and sign another three players in the summer they would still be suffering with that sort of injury list.

But thoughts will return in May to the strengthening of the squad. And surely the priority area in the summer is the forward line. Theo Walcott will of course return from injury and Olivier Giroud is going from strength to strength. But reports suggest that one rumoured Arsenal target wants to move on this summer. The Independent says:

Loic Remy has revealed his dream of playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs before the end of his career.

“Nowadays, without being pretentious, I might be able to play for a bigger club, a top-five European club.

While Arsenal fans would surely like to see a big money signing in the summer, we believe that Arsene Wenger should snap this guy up regardless. He looks to us like a player born for the Arsenal style.

Remy has bags of pace and is great on the counter attack. He also has super feet that wouldn’t be out of place in this highly technical side. And Remy is a hard worker to boot.

Arsenal need not one but two new strikers this summer. We say that Remy should be Arsneal’s first target of the close season – it’s a no-brainer.
