Surely Mourinho will resign if this happens
Chelsea are not a selling club – that’s obvious. But, if you believe the rumours which have surrounded The Bridge over the last few months, Jose Mourinho may be willing to sell Juan Mata.
Although Mata has graced the team a little more of late, he still doesn’t appear as happy as he has been at Chelsea. He’s no longer the architect of everything good from the midfield or the guy who bagged 20 goals last campaign. Mourinho may simply not fancy him.
So it’s feasible that the rumours of Mata going to PSG in January are true.
But a move that Mourinho surely would not sanction is that of Eden Hazard to the French champions. The Express suggested yesterday that PSG will come in with a massive bid for the brilliant winger in January. We say that The Express says that France Football says:
according to France Football, PSG may offer upwards of £34 million for Hazard, who has seen his stock rise since his move from Lille in 2012.
The same publication also believes the club could match Hazard’s current salary which stands at £5 million a year.
Not a chance! While Mourinho may be luke warm on Mata he loves Hazard. Both have great skill but, perhaps what separates the two is pace and power. Hazard has much more of both, while Mata is more about touch and subtlety.
We think that if Chelsea allowed Hazard to leave it would send Mourinho to the brink of resignation – such is his belief that the Frenchman can be at the heart of the next great Chelsea side.
Back in August, Mourinho said of Hazard:
‘He is a top talent, but it’s one thing being a top talent and another being a top player. And I want him to be a top player.’
While the Mata rumours may have substance we don’t believe for a second that Mourinho would let Hazard leave Chelsea.
