Manchester United want the ‘Magician’ – report
Manchester United have reportedly rekindled their interest in La Liga ace Arda Turan. The player, who had a superb season, appears to be back on the radar of the Manchester club according to The Express.
However, they face an uphill battle to secure his services thanks to reported interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona.
ATLETICO MADRID are lining up a £18m bid for Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla as they prepare for Arda Turan to leave for Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Barcelona.
Manchester United were linked with the player last season. In January The Express reported that his agent, Ahmet Bulut, had confirmed that Turan did want to play in England in the future, saying:
“A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned. He wants to work in England.”
Turan, known as ‘The Turkish Magician‘ for his amazing ball control played a vital role in Atletico Madrid’s incredible season where they won La Liga and reached The Champions League Final, playing 30 league games and scoring 3 goals. He has been an important figure under Diego Simeone’s side making over 95 appearances for the club in just three years.
As a versatile player, the 27 year old could add real talent and depth to a Manchester United side that disappointed last season. He is able to play as a winger on both sides of the pitch as well as a more central role behind the striker.
The Turkish winger also has plenty of experience, with 72 senior caps for his national side. In that time he has also found the net 14 times for Turkey.
After spending most of his career at Galatasaray he moved to Atletico Madrid in 2011 for €12 million plus add-ons.
The Express reports that a recent contract extension signed by the player includes a £33 million release clause, making him an extensive target for any of the interested clubs. Nathan Gibson
