Manchester United linked with jaw dropping double signing
It is an astonishing measure of how quickly things have soured at Manchester United that we are already talking about who will replace the guy who replaced Sir Alex.
We think that it’s just a matter of time now before Moyes departs. You can’t fault the Scot for his desire. But, sadly for him, desire alone does not make you a top manager at a top club. It seems to us that Moyes simply ‘hopes’ that Manchester United will turn a corner rather than knowing how to affect a change. We aren’t sure that he even knows exactly what is going wrong at the club.
Anyway, talk has already begun about who might take the reigns and today’s reports suggest that a top manager may follow a top player from the same club into Old Trafford. The Guardian says:
The former Manchester United manager David Moyes spent 10 months watching 39,432 players a total of 5,097,301 times, only to sign Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata. But only research as forensic as this could uncover the talent of Atlético Madrid’s Diego Costa, a principal summer transfer target – but whose arrival may well be predicated on that of Diego Simeone, a leading candidate to be the next United manager.
We can definitely see Costa doing a job in England. He has scored goals for fun at Athletico this season and he’s one of the most unerring finishers in the world. The only thing that concerns us about him as a potential Manchester United player is that he isn’t known for his pace – an area in which United are already struggling.
As for Simeone, we really can’t see that happening either. Don’t get us wrong. We think that Manchester United should definitely appoint someone youngish with passion and modern ideas. But bringing in a young fiery manager who hasn’t managed in England represents something of a gamble. Still, anything would be better than Moyes right now.

Manchester United fans – would either of these arrivals boil your potatoes?
