Manchester United linked with very strange deal
It’s a very strange one this. But as the story comes from The Telegraph we have to afford it some credibility. Manchester United have been linked, over the last few days, with the Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin. The 27 year old Columbian is seen as the sort of combative, box to box player that Manchester United manager David Moyes believes that the team needs.
The Telegraph suggests that Inter want a swap deal between the midfielder and United striker Javier Hernandez. The Telegraph says:
Inter Milan are planning to exploit Manchester United’s interest in midfielder Fredy Guarin by pursuing a January move for Javier Hernandez.
Colombia international Guarin is among a number of targets identified by United manager David Moyes as potential recruits in next month’s transfer window, with the Scot determined to address growing concerns over the strength of midfield options in his squad.
Firstly, we don’t think that Manchester United need a combative midfielder at all. They supposedly already have one in Marouane Fellaini. Furthermore, Micheal Carrick and Phil Jones are more than capable of providing an excellent shield for the defence. Manchester United need attacking midfielders – there is no point having a player to win the ball back if you don’t have players who can do something with it. Manchester United don’t currently have enough midfielders who can do something special with the ball.
Secondly, unless Manchester United are planning to bring in another striker then they can ill afford to lose Javier Hernandez. With RvP looking fragile this season, and Danny Welbeck yet to convince, too much burden already resides on the broad shoulders of Wayne Rooney.
If Manchester United lost Rooney to injury then the club would be up a certain smelly creek without a certain rowing instrument. Guarin may well improve Manchester United but the idea of Chicharito leaving at the same time makes little sense.
Manchester United fans, thoughts on this?
