Get them in

Anyone who saw the game against Valencia will feel that, despite a really exciting preseason, Manchester United are still currently some way off the title pace.

They were missing Carrick, Shaw, Valencia, RvP and Rafa de Silva. But the performance was poor. The whole team looked pedestrian and LvG will know that, with money apparently no issue, he needs to spend heavily between now and the end of September.

And reports from, well pretty much everywhere, over the last 24 hours have suggested that Manchester United are embarking on a 100m Euro transfer spree to spruce up their squad.

The Daily Mail reports;

Manchester United are poised to splash out £80million (100m Euros) to turn Louis van Gaal’s squad into Premier League contenders.

United have revived their interest in £50million-rated Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria, launched a bid for Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo and are keen on Ajax utility player Daley Blind.

We really like the look of Rojo. Since the speculation began about his signing many have asked questions about what it means for Luke Shaw. But we think that Rojo represents an alternative to Vermaelen rather than Shaw. Rojo played left back at The World Cup but is equally good at centre back and we think that he will play on the left of the three in LvG’s new formation. He will of course also offer cover for Shaw. In that respect it’s a great signing. We feel that this deal is highly likely.

Blind is another who can operate in various positions and may well be asked to play in central mid at the start of his Manchester United career, due to the paucity of quality there.

As for Di Maria, he will clearly offer pace and power going forward. But quite where he will play is the subject of some debate. He does have a remarkable engine and could possible play on either side at wing back or up top alongside RvP or Rooney. Manchester United appear to be the only club who can afford him. So if they want him, the deal looks on.

    no need to plead to van gaal and ed woodward to sign players, maybe they really want man united to become a midtable team completely, i hope van gaal have seen what is going on in his last game with valencia, we never enter into the season, they are all playing nonsense, maybe Van Gaal taught he has a great squard, they will beat them like a kid in the PL, all those deadwood will meet Cheasea, Arsenal, Man city, liverpool and Everton, maybe Man United will change is position to number 8 this season, if care is not taking
