Liverpool to finally get No1 target
Reports today suggest that Brendan Rodgers will finally sign his long term target, Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, when the transfer window opens in January.
Sturridge, who has been largely frozen out at Chelsea this season, has been agitating for a move for some time and Liverpool will answer his call – to the delight of Rodgers. The Liverpool boss is a huge admirer of the player and narrowly missed out on the Sturridge in the summer due to contractual problems.
Sturridge fits neatly into the Rodgers system. He’s quick, nimble, athletic and can play in a variety of positions. While some have questioned the technique of the player, Liverpool will be signing a forward who, at 23, has time on his side.
He already has nearly 100 top flight appearances under his belt with Manchester City, Chelsea and Bolton, with a scoring ratio of about 1 in 4.
The Guardian reports that the fee is likely to be in the region of £12m. So, Liverpool fans, is this the striker that you need at Anfield?
