Chelsea: Done deal?
The dream scenario for many Chelsea fans this January would be to sign a really top striker.
After drawing a blank against West Ham, in The Premier League this week, questions continue to be asked about whether Chelsea have the cutting edge to challenge Manchester City for the title. The Blues’ squad compares well to their Manchester rivals until you get to the business end of the team – the strike force.
Chelsea may still dip into the market for a striker but news today suggests they are on the verge of doing the deal for a defender.
There has been speculation throughout the window that Chelsea want to sign Kurt Zouma of St.Etienne. The £11m rated centre-back has spoken of his desire to come to Stamofrd Bridge as speculation has intensified about a winter transfer.
The Metro reports that a fee has now been agreed for the player. It says:
Chelsea finally agree £11million transfer fee to sign Saint Etienne star Kurt Zouma
it’s Chelsea who are set to land the France Under-21 international, with the club meeting the £11million asking price that Saint Etienne had set for interested clubs.
Jose Mourinho has already held talks with Zouma over the phone, while it’s thought he has been offered a five-year-deal worth £60,000-a-week.
Jose Mourinho has always been a manager who likes to build from the back with solid defenders. The signing of Nemanja Matic has already beefed up the midfield and this signing will embellish the back line with another man mountain.
Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans, is Zouma good enough to go straight into the first team?
