It won’t be the first or last time that Manchester United and Chelsea are competing with each other fiercely for a solitary goal.
Chelsea are in a far better position than Manchester United in the Premier League right now but both will be equally keen to sort out their left back situation over the next year.
Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra have been comfortably the best fullbacks in The Premier League over the last six or seven years. They have not only been solid at the back but excellent going forward with countless buccaneering runs and smart deliveries.
But call is now 33 and Evra will be the same age in May. Their age is catching up on them and both clubs will look to spend big for replacements.
Unfortunately there is only one Luke Shaw available. The 18-year-old has been an absolute sensation in the Premier league this season becoming a regular in the Southampton team despite his tender years. We, along with most of the footballing public, believe that this guy will become one of the best England players over the next decade. He’s got an inordinately sized engine, defends as if his life depended on it and also has great quality in the attacking third. All in all he’s a dream left-back.
With news this week that chairman Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese it has left the club has been feverish speculation that Chelsea Manchester United will make a bid for the player in the January window. Bookmakers SkyBet believe that these two clubs are clear favourites for signature.

Whichever club manager to get the services of sure will be extremely lucky because I won’t have to think about that position for at least another decade – whatever the cost, this guy will be a supreme investment. An 18 year old Englishman of limitless potential is like gold dust in this league.
