Arsenal: Wenger’s biggest mistake ever

Arsene-Wenger

Poor decision

Some players seem to draw incredibly varied opinions and Mesut Ozil is most certainly one of them. He can look a cut above the rest as he glides through opposition defences at his best.

But we haven’t seen enough of that for Arsenal and latest reports suggest that things have got so bad that the German international wants a move to Bayern Munich as early as January.

The Daily Mail:

Mesut Ozil wants to leave Arsenal in January as Bayern Munich line up £30m bid for crocked German midfielder

While many Arsenal fans still think that this guy will come good again we can’t see how he would command anything like £30m on current form.

And we can’t help thinking that Arsene Wenger has made one of the biggest mistakes of his career in holding on to the lad. There was no official bid for Ozil in the summer but few Arsenal fans would have complained if the German had been offloaded to make space for Cesc Fabregas, who is once more lighting up The Premier League on a weekly basis.

Arsenal could surely have found a buyer if they had been ruthless about it. But, in our view, that is the main problem with Wenger. He’s a great trainer and a great man but perhaps he lacks that ruthlessness, that killer instinct to make the sort of quick and radical decisions that could make Arsenal a serial champion.

We will probably never find out for sure but we would simply love to know whether, in retrospect, Arsene would have shipped out Ozil and brought back Cesc in the summer.

Arsenal fans: can Ozil recover the sort of form that he showed in the first month with the club or is it time to part company?

I agree with your point about Wenger being indecisive, but I don’t agree with your point about selling Ozil. This is all Wenger’s fault because Ozil wants to play in the number 10 role not as a bloody winger covering his full back.

Arsene Wenger…nothing new about him. Arsenal should have released him long ago. As for Ozil, should release him also. Did not played in his favourite role? Then? Sulked all your way and don’t give your best on the field? Come on! As a professional and earning that obscene money, you always give your best wherever you played. Talented but…..it is quite obvious that Ozil was “lazy” most of the time when he played. His attitude can be seen by all.
