No Brainer

When you think that the England team could feasibly have 6 Arsenal starters before long – The Ox, Wilshere, Chambers, Gibbs, Welbeck and Walcott – things are obviously pretty healthy for the club.

Because, although England never win anything at International level, the top teams with a good number of English stars tend to win trophies.

But you also need a world class finisher to be a serial champion and Arsenal don’t have one. Giroud and Welbeck are decent but, as we have said before, we wouldn’t kid ourselves into thinking that these guys can open up a crunch game at the very top level on a regular basis.

Arsenal obviously need a superstar finisher and the best potentially available one right now is Edinson Cavani. The Express reports:

EDINSON CAVANI is ready to listen to offers from Arsenal and Liverpool in the January transfer window.

…it is suggested that Cavani would jump at the chance to be a first choice at a Premier League club.

Will Wenger act on this one? Well we would dearly love him too. You can talk about Cavani not being as good as Falcao or Luis Suarez. But, at the end of the day, he’s a world class finisher. There aren’t too many about and they are the sort of players who decide games.

So, as for as we are concerned, it’s a no-brainer. Arsenal simply can’t afford not to buy him if they have aspirations of winning the big trophies. At 27, and with 206 goals for club and country in the locker, you would get at least four great years out of the lad. A lot of money to pay for four years of service but any investment would be worthwhile if it brought a title and a Champions League final appearance.

Let’s see the brilliant Uruguayan in action. Arsenal fans: do you want him?
