Arsene Wenger has plenty of dead wood to shift before the end of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal’s 33-man squad needs trimming and a number of players have been told they are free to leave the club.
Among them is Gabriel Paulista, who the Sun claim is attracting interest from Valencia.
The 26-year-old has been usurped by Rob Holding in the pecking order, with Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, and Per Mertesacker also ahead of him.
New signing Sead Kolasinac also proved in the Community Shield win over Chelsea that he can play at centre-back, as the left-back was required to come on in place of a bloodied Mertesacker.
Arsenal are only asking for £10million for Gabriel, so they are set to make a loss on the £11.3m they spent on him two years ago.
Wenger is being very reasonable in allowing his fringe players – including Jack Wilshere, Calum Chambers, and Lucas Perez – to restart their careers elsewhere, but actually finding clubs who are willing to take them on is perhaps easier said than done.
