Valencia feels ‘Sad’ about United position

Antonio Valencia

Manchester United defender, Antonio Valencia has expressed his depression on the team’s position on the league log as he thinks this is not like the old United.

The unpleasant run of form and unable to challenge for the league title this season has left the Red Devils 16 points below league leaders Leicester City and 9 point beneath Tottenham Hotspur, who is second on the league log.

“When you are playing against opponents who are challenging for the title, in the shape of Tottenham and Leicester, they are going to be big fixtures. It will be interesting but a little bit sad in a way because we feel that we should be fighting for the title itself,” Valencia told MUTV.

The right-back who has been out of action for five months further stated:“But we have to make sure we keep on this winning run in order to achieve what we need to. It will be exciting for us as we are playing for our place in the Champions League next season.

With a club like Manchester United winning the treble in 1999 and beating Bayern Munich in Camp Nou, will be hoping to always make it to the Champions league to excite the fans.

“We know how important historically the Champions League is here, how happy it would make the fans to qualify for that competition again for next season. So the main battle is to get back into that top four.”

Man United will travel to Tottenham in the league this weekend.
