Borussia Dortmund have reportedly joined Juventus in the race for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The Mirror claim that BVB are the latest club hoping to exploit the German international’s situation as he continues to stall on an extension with the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp is desperate to keep the 23-year-old, who will no doubt want his future sorted before next summer’s World Cup. Can will be free to speak to clubs outside the Premier League from January.
The former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen man will also be aware that he could boost his international chances by playing in the Bundesliga and is in a good position when it comes to negotiating wages, as potential suitors won’t have to fork out a transfer fee for him.
It makes the need for another central midfielder even greater for Klopp, who is already targeting reinforcements following the departure of Lucas Leiva and persistent injuries to Jordan Henderson.
