Tottenham are reportedly confident they will sign Serge Aurier before the end of the transfer window, beating several European clubs to the PSG full-back in the process.
That’s according to the Mirror, who report that the Ivory Coast international could be available for as little as £20million.
While he has a history of disciplinary problems and is still banned from entering the UK because of his conviction for assaulting a police officer last year, his signing would be a huge coup following the departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City earlier this summer.
The 24-year-old has also been targeted by Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United.
Kyle Walker-Peters’ performance against Newcastle has made Spurs’ need for a new right-back less urgent, but Mauricio Pochettino is reluctant to throw him in at the deep end just yet. Aurier, who can play in a variety of positions across the defence, would therefore provide competition for Kieran Trippier, with Walker-Peters used as an additional back-up.
The same source claim a move for Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez is also progressing.
