Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer saga looked to have ended, but his latest comments are certainly going to cause a stir.
The Portuguese’s pre-season is being interrupted by his ongoing legal case, in which he is accused of tax fraud amounting to £13million.
During proceedings on July 31, he showed his frustrations with a telling comment that has been picked up by Cadena Ser:
“In England, I never had these problems, that’s why I want to go back there.”
The 32-year-old appeared content to stay at the Bernabeu again prior to this revelation and interestingly, Real will have the perfect opportunity to speak to the favourites for his signature, Manchester United, as the sides meet on Tuesday in the Super Cup.
The forward would be extraordinarily expensive given his age, though his transfer would no longer break the world record as Neymar’s £198million switch to Paris Saint-Germain should hold that for some time.
United are no longer desperate for a goalscorer following the arrival of £75million man Romelu Lukaku, though Jose Mourinho knows Ronaldo well from their time together in La Liga.
