With just 28 days left in the transfer window, Tottenham are finally ready to make their first signing.
Spurs’ inactivity in the transfer window can’t be put down solely to lack of funds, as they recouped £50million from the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.
However, far from bringing in a marquee signing with that cash, the Sun report they are set to spend just £2million on Southampton backup goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.
Third choice Luke McGee left the club earlier this summer for Portsmouth and a deal for Pau Lopez, the Espanyol stopper who spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, never materialised.
Gazzaniga spent last season at Rayo Vallecano but worked under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton in the 2013-14 campaign.
The 25-year-old would provide an additional option behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.
It’s fair to say that for Tottenham fans agitating for a new arrival, this is probably not what they had in mind judging by some of the reaction:

Another panic job by Levy.
He lets McGee leave because he thought he could sign Lopez (even though I think McGee is the better of the two) on the cheap, realises that not everyone will stand for his BS And so finds his self in the position of needing to fill a spot in the squad because his attempts to con another team was rebuffed.
Just as I was singing Levys praises on another site I then find this, if it’s true…. AHHHH!
