The prospect of Philippe Coutinho linking up with Neymar at Barcelona now looks unlikely.
Catalan publication Sport suggest the Blaugrana superstar will finalise his move to Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, but he has still found time to contact his international team-mate via Whatsapp.
According to the same source, he has told the Liverpool playmaker to snub Barca and wait for a move to PSG to open up. As part of his agreement to join the Ligue 1 runners-up, he has reportedly told them they need to bring in more top players, and Coutinho is thought to be high on their list.
Meanwhile, Ernesto Valverde is clearly interested in the Brazilian. The Reds rejected an opening offer of €80million, per the Daily Mail, and continue to insist the 25-year-old isn’t for sale.
They will not appreciate Neymar’s latest overtures, even if he is doing his best to put Coutinho off Barcelona.
Liverpool’s Premier League season begins in less than a fortnight with a trip to Watford, so they would ideally like his future sorted by then.
