Spurs are unlikely to bring in another centre-forward this summer, with Vincent Janssen set to be given one more chance to prove himself.
Mauricio Pochettino will persevere with the Dutchman, according to the Daily Mail, despite him scoring just two league goals last season.
The 23-year-old was brought in from AZ Alkmaar a year ago to provide back-up for Harry Kane, but his confidence suffered after a poor start to the season. While Kane missed a combined three months with ankle injuries, Janssen still wasn’t utilised regularly, as Heung-Min Son was used as a striker.
It took until April’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth for Janssen to score his first league goal from open play, though it doesn’t appear to have damaged his rapport with the fans.
However, the fact that the £17million man was top scorer in the Eredivisie the season before last does suggest there’s a player in there.
His shortcomings didn’t cause too big a problem as Spurs still finished the season as the Premier League’s highest scorers.
