Chelsea reportedly make mammoth bid for Higuain

Chelsea’s hunt for Diego Costa’s replacement goes on.

The Blues’ top scorer is almost certainly on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with Atletico Madrid his most likely destination despite a transfer embargo which would prevent him playing until January.

Antonio Conte is in need of a world-class striker to replace the Spanish international, and it looks as if he hasn’t been holding back.

The Italian has seemingly been attempting to use his contacts at Juventus to move for their superstar forward Gonzalo Higuain. That’s according to Tuttosport, who report the Old Lady have rebuffed a 100million euro bid for the Argentine – a fee in the region of £88million in British Sterling.

Higuain, 29, scored 32 goals for the Bianconeri in his debut season in Turin. He becomes the second Juve player Chelsea have tried to sign this summer after Alex Sandro.

The Serie A champions have already provided one shock in the summer market by sanctioning the sale of centre-back Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan, but he should be the last notable player to leave.
