Anthony Martial could avoid another potentially disappointing season under Jose Mourinho as Manchester United could use him to bring in one of their key summer targets.
Inter Milan are interested in loaning the French international if they are to sanction Ivan Perisic’s move to Old Trafford, reports the Daily Mail.
The Nerazzurri are playing hardball over the Croatia international, turning down two bids from United so far. Inter are determined to hold out for £48million, but that could change if they were given Martial for a season.
The club do not want to keep Perisic against his will.
It remains to be seen how United respond. Mourinho doesn’t appear to be Martial’s biggest fan, but he is short on attacking options following the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney; while neither are like for like with Martial, who often operates on the wing now, he can play as a forward and is another goalscorer to have in the squad.
Indeed, Sevilla attempted to sign Martial on loan in January and were turned down, so it looks as if this won’t be the key to getting the Perisic deal done.
