Tottenham are now the only Premier League club not to have made a signing, but there’s still plenty of time for them to dip into the market.
Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly content with his squad – or equally likely, he is struggling to find quality players who fit into Spurs’ budget.
Lilywhites fans must be resigning themselves to the fact there are unlikely to be any groundbreaking arrivals, but the club are looking for some reinforcements.
For Kevin Wimmer to be allowed to leave, Pochettino needs another centre-back in his place. And according to the Daily Mail, he’s found one.
Spurs are close to agreeing a move for Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth, who will cost £8million.
His current club have Juan Sebastian Veron – the former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder – as president, and he knows Pochettino well having played with him at international level.
Foyth is another compatriot and has featured for Argentina’s under-20 side. A versatile defender, he can also play in midfield.
