Manchester United are expected to have a busy summer, but Jose Mourinho is expecting to keep most of his squad intact.
One player who the Red Devils boss is reluctant to lose is Matteo Darmian, claim ESPN.
The Italian only made 15 Premier League starts last season, but his versatility still makes him an asset at Old Trafford.
Should he wish to return to Serie A with Juventus, it’s reported he’ll have to explicitly ask Mourinho, as he won’t be offloaded otherwise.
The 27-year-old prefers playing at right-back, but Antonio Valencia is first choice in that position. At left-back, he currently has Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, and Daley Blind to compete with.
United are not, therefore, actively trying to get rid of Darmian, but it’s thought they would only sell him if a decent offer came in and the player decided he wanted to leave.
The same source suggest Mourinho would like Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba, but that is unlikely to affect the Darmian situation as the Blaugrana are almost certainly going to keep the defender.
