Tottenham have no intention of listening to offers for Harry Kane, but that resolve could soon be put to the test.
According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho has decided to pursue the Spurs striker instead of Cristiano Ronaldo as he looks to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mourinho is urging Manchester United officials to pay whatever it takes, which could lead to a world record £100million bid.
The Golden Boot holder would be a more long-term solution than Ronaldo now that the Portuguese is 32. The four-time Ballon d’Or winner might be a more viable option, however, because it was reported last week that he wanted to leave Real Madrid.
There are no guarantees that Ronaldo will indeed go, but it seems even more unlikely that Kane will be on the move.
The 23-year-old is crucial to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, having scored 29 goals in the Premier League last season – including a run of seven goals in Spurs’ last two games against Leicester and Hull.
The newspaper claim that United’s interest in Kane does not rule out a move for Alvaro Morata, as Mourinho plans to pair the two together if he is able to make advances on the two deals.
