Tottenham have named their price for Eric Dier

Eric Dier

Tottenham have warned Manchester United that Eric Dier will not be coming cheaply if he moves to Old Trafford this summer.

Spurs have slapped a £50million price tag on his head, reports the Telegraph, as United continue to circle.

Jose Mourinho is eager to sign the versatile England international sooner rather than later as he plans for the Red Devils’ assault on the Champions League.

The newspaper suggest United view the 23-year-old as a long-term successor to Michael Carrick – who also joined from the Lilywhites – although he has performed best this term when operating on the right side of a back three. Dier can play at centre-back or in central midfield, but he has struggled for the national side in recent games in the latter position.

The former Sporting Lisbon man’s unique footballing education in Portugal and at youth level with Everton makes him a huge asset in the Premier League.

United could double his wages, even if they are reluctant to deal with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. due to a history of tension between the two sides.
