Ernesto Valverde has already begun scouring the market to strengthen his new Barcelona side.
Having taken the reins from Luis Enrique, the former Athletic Bilbao boss has plenty of work to do to ensure the Blaugrana have a more successful campaign next time around.
Real Madrid won both La Liga and the Champions League – the latter for the second year in a row – so Valverde will be keen to reverse that trend.
Barca are targeting several Premier League stars to help them progress again, per the Daily Mail, and they are evidently looking for reinforcements across the board.
Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool’s Brazilian playmaker links up brilliantly with Neymar for the national side and could transition well into a side that, like the Reds, may use several attackers in a front line, depending on whether Valverde operates as he did at Bilbao.
Riyad Mahrez
Mahrez would be a huge risk. The Algerian managed just three league assists last season, compared to 11 in the Foxes’ title-winning campaign. At his best, he may be the man to contribute more out wide for Barca, but Valverde will have to think carefully.
Hector Bellerin
Bellerin played at the Nou Camp at youth level and has been one of Arsenal’s more impressive players in a disappointing campaign. That the Gunners missed out on Champions League football could well help the La Liga giants’ cause.
Cesar Azpilicueta
Chelsea will no doubt fight tooth and nail to keep Azpilicueta. There’s an argument that he’s one of the Premier League’s most underrated players, and he’s crucial to Antonio Conte’s set-up. His versatility could make him just as useful at Barcelona.
