Lucas Leiva’s 10-year stint at Liverpool looks to be coming to an end.
The midfielder has been used as a utility man by Jurgen Klopp this season, even featuring at centre-back on several occasions later on in the campaign.
However, he has started just 19 games in all competitions and is now expected to return to his native Brazil.
The Mirror report that the 30-year-old plans to re-sign for his old club Gremio on a free transfer.
A deal between the two clubs could have been sealed in January, but he wanted to complete a decade at Anfield.
Klopp is expected to bring in numerous reinforcements this summer, and Lucas was always going to be one of the fringe players whose future would be called into question.
With Champions League football to look forward to next season, the Reds will need depth in their squad, but Klopp may choose to continue promoting youngsters like central midfielder Kevin Stewart into the first team for the domestic cups.
