It’s set to be a long summer of speculation regarding Antoine Griezmann’s future unless the Frenchman makes a decision soon.
The Atletico Madrid star’s links to Manchester United refuse to go away, and while Jose Mourinho is enjoying some time off, Ed Woodward has been left to make progress on the deal.
It appears there may have finally been a breakthrough, with the forward taking matters into his own hands.
According to well-respected correspondent Antonio Ruiz, who is an expert on Atletico, Griezmann has now spoken to Rojiblancos bosses and told them he wants to leave.

A transfer request is especially significant in this case because it could mean that United don’t have to meet his release clause of £86million. If Atleti are convinced he wants to leave, it may force their hand and he could therefore be available for around £20million less than that.
After a mixed start to the season, Griezmann scored 16 La Liga goals this term and won the Golden Boot at last summer’s European Championships.
The 26-year-old has now set his sights on winning silverware, and with United having qualified for the Champions League via their Europa League win, they are in the perfect position to tempt him.
