Iker Casillas is set to receive plenty of offers when he leaves Porto at the end of his contract this summer.
The legendary goalkeeper is being linked with clubs in Turkey, China, and Qatar by AS, but the Spanish publication insists it is the possibility of a switch to Liverpool that interests him most.
The Reds have renewed pulling power in the transfer market now they are back in the Champions League.
That is particularly appealing to the former Real Madrid star, who has played 175 games in the competition.
Although Casillas is now 36, his record of 23 clean sheets this season suggests he still has plenty to offer.
However, his potential signing would say a lot about Liverpool’s short-termism.
Jurgen Klopp restored Simon Mignolet to the number one position after a string of errors from Loris Karius in the early part of the campaign, but there remains doubt over whether the Belgian is of the calibre needed.
The difficulty is that Karius was supposed to be that long-term answer to Klopp’s problem.
Casillas then, if he does arrive, will at least offer Champions League experience and a quick fix.
