Why Spurs are set to be disappointed in pursuit of Josh King

Tottenham are likely to be disappointed in their pursuit of Josh King, with the Bournemouth striker likely to stay at the Vitality Stadium.

That’s according to the Daily Star, who have quoted the Norway international reiterating his commitment to the Cherries.

“I cannot wait for next season to start,” he said.

“Being noticed by other clubs is positive but my focus is 100 per cent here.

“This is the first season where I have scored goals like this. Next year I need to prove myself and do it all again.

“I set myself a target of 15 goals at the start of the season and have been building my confidence. Once you start scoring it builds.”

Spurs are likely to be hesitant on the 25-year-old anyway as they need to be sure any forwards they do sign are going to be of the calibre to step in for Harry Kane when needed.

Vincent Janssen has endured a difficult maiden season at White Hart Lane and Mauricio Pochettino appears to be losing faith in the Dutchman, affording him just 18 minutes of Spurs’ last four games.

Kane has had two spells on the sidelines this season and they cannot let another summer pass without bringing in top quality reinforcements.

There is still a belief around the club that Janssen will come good, but as that can’t be guaranteed, the Lilywhites have been linked with a number of different targets, with King just one of them.
