Manchester United’s pursuit of another striker has become that bit more urgent after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury.
It remains to be seen whether the Swede will play again at all, but it seems unlikely that we’ll see him in a United shirt again with his contract up in the summer.
If the striker does leave Old Trafford, it will free up some of the pressure on the club’s wage bill. To sign a top replacement, though, the Red Devils will also have to fork out a significant fee.
According to the Mirror, it could cost them as much as £84million to lure Andrea Belotti from Torino.
That’s the amount attached to the 23-year-old’s release clause, who has scored 25 league goals in Serie A this term.
Whether United sign Belotti or not shouldn’t affect their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, as Wayne Rooney is another player who needs replacing.
Jose Mourinho is in line for another significant transfer window, when he will look to find a solution to United’s frustrations this season.
