It’s hard to blame Antoine Griezmann for having a quiet evening for Atletico Madrid in their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Monday.
The Frenchman is evidently growing tired of the constant speculation linking him with Manchester United, and his latest comments are yet another hint that he intends to stay in the Spanish capital.
“It’s always the same question and I now don’t know what to say,” he told AS.
“I find myself repeating myself and I certainly see myself here.
“I feel it’s an answer that I’ve given so many times now but that very question is quite tiring.”
In United’s defence, they aren’t the ones who have been fuelling the speculation, but it’s easy to see why they are so interested in the 26-year-old.
Griezmann lit up Euro 2016 and then, after a relatively slow start to the current season, he has scored a further 22 goals for his club – the same number as Cristiano Ronaldo.
In fact, the two will go up against each other this weekend when Atleti travel to the Bernabeu for the local derby.
In the mean time, United will not be encouraged by his remarks. Jose Mourinho’s need for another goalscorer behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains great, but it may be time for him to start considering other targets.
