Alexis Sanchez has given Arsenal the ultimatum that they must convince him of their ambition in this summer’s transfer window, reports the Mirror.
The Chilean is widely expected to quit the Emirates after growing frustrated with their failure to win a Premier League title in his time at the club.
However, it’s now being suggested that he is happy to stay for one more year on the condition that the Gunners spend big at the end of the season.
That could prompt the club to get their business done early, as otherwise, they risk him changing his mind again before the end of August.
At first glance, this looks like a huge positive for the north Londoners.
Keeping Sanchez carries with it a huge risk, though, as it means he’ll be able to leave for free next summer.
A move to Chelsea remains in the pipeline because of the forward’s preference to stay in London, but Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are other possibilities.
For Arsenal, it would naturally be preferable for him to move abroad, but they may lose any say in the matter if the 28-year-old leaves on a Bosman.
