It doesn’t take a body language expert to decipher that Alexis Sanchez is not happy at Arsenal.
The Chilean is a man who clearly knows his worth, and he’s not going to tolerate missing out on the Champions League, which looks like the likely outcome of the Gunners’ season at the moment.
As much as the speculation surrounding his future has been interesting so far, there are still set to be plenty of twists and turns before we finally find out where he’ll be playing his football next year.
The Telegraph are now reporting that Chelsea is his preferred destination, but unsurprisingly, Arsenal aren’t making it easy for him.
It would be foolish to allow their prize asset to join a Premier League rival, but as the forward enters the final year of his contract, Arsene Wenger may have no choice.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are confident. The problem is that Arsenal are in a better financial position than they were a few years ago, and that puts them in a better position to play rough.
It’s claimed that they would rather make Sanchez enter the last 12 months of his deal than let him head for Stamford Bridge. That means he’d either leave for a cut-price fee in the January of 2018, or completely run down his contract and go for nothing that summer.
The more likely scenario is that he’ll start forcing a move to Chelsea over the next few months. Player power should never be underestimated, and especially not when it comes to a player in possession of such a notoriously fiery temperament.
