Marcus Rashford attracting interest from shock club

There are very few things that Jose Mourinho has got wrong at Manchester United which Louis van Gaal got right.

The overwhelming majority of fans were delighted when the trophy connoisseur replaced the Dutchman last year, and he has done a fantastic job of engineering an entertaining side once again.

One of the few players he has not got the best out of is Marcus Rashford. The England international may be among the very few who wish LVG was still in charge, as it was under him that he was given his big break in the first team.

Last season, the 19-year-old scored 14 goals in all competitions, which is incredible given that he only made his debut in the February.

Unfortunately, since then, things have slowed down considerably. This term, he hasn’t been at his best, and few teenagers would get away with the kind of goal drought he can.

Thanks to the impact he made in his first few months, Rashford is still held in high regard. Most people also have a lot of sympathy with him when he’s deployed on the wing instead of up front.

It certainly seems that Real Madrid haven’t lost interest in him, at least according to Diario Gol.

The source claims that Los Blancos have a list of nine strikers they are keen on, including Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Porto youngster Andre Silva.

Interestingly, it’s claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo favours the latter two.

With Alvaro Morata set to leave the Bernabeu, Zinedine Zidane wants a young replacement, going by the list of names.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the most established, but Celtic’s Moussa Dembele and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele are also contenders.

If Rashford leaves, it would make most sense for United to thrash out a loan agreement so that he can develop elsewhere, but that could depend on whether Madrid come calling.
